WordPress announced that it will release version 5.0 today, December 6, 2018.

This release includes a fix for some scripts not loading on subdirectory installs and user locale settings not being loaded in the block editor. Updates to themes and plugins will also be required. An in-depth field guide to developer-focused changes is coming soon on the core development blog. In the meantime, you can review the developer notes for 5.0. Remember to backup first before you make any changes.

Gutenberg
WordPress 5.0 introduces an entirely new post editing experience and a new editor called Gutenberg. This new editor not only replaces TinyMCE, but the entire post editing page as well. For many, this change may seem jarring at first glance. The good news is that you don’t have to jump head first into the new editor. The Classic Editor along with the Classic Divi Builder is still available.

Divi Builder
Using the Divi Builder with WordPress 5.0 is a little different than previous versions. You will notice that the overall design of the post editor has changed, and that a new box appears when creating new pages that will allow you to choose between the Divi Builder and the standard WordPress post editor. You can switch between the two at any time.

If you are not ready to use the Visual Builder, or if you are not ready to use the new WordPress 5.0 post editor, that’s ok. You can use as much time as you need to familiarize yourself with the new system, and we will continue to support both the Classic Editor and the new Gutenberg editor moving forward.

Is it Important to Upgrade?
Yes, it is important to immediately upgrade as outdated systems are often abused by hackers due to its vulnerabilities. However, here in DatastiQ, we advise you to take a realistic approach instead.

Holiday season is coming and the time now is for your family, friends and relatives. Like in any other system update, bugs and fixes will occur during the early stage. We expect it to be more stable by January next year, therefore let it settle down first and focus your energy spending time with your love ones.

Always remember to invest time with yourself, with your family and with God. Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon!

Kind Regards,

DatastiQ Team
