Transferring a domain to DatastiQ is easy and all you need to do is to consider a few requirements from your current Domain Registrar or Web Hosting company. Placing your domain to where your hosting services are, allows you to manage both services with only one login password, making it easier for you to stay on top of everything related to your website.
Check Renewal Date
The most common cause of delay for transferring domain is the Renewal Date from your current registrar due to security purposes and also ICANN regulations.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN for short, is a nonprofit organization responsible for coordinating the maintenance and procedures of several databases related to the namespaces and numerical spaces of the Internet, ensuring the network's stable and secure operation.
Most companies do not allow transferring of domain names within 45 to 60 days from the expiry or renewal date. Therefore, ensure to check your current account before initiating to avoid failure of transfer.
Review Contact Information
Ensure that you review your contact details as each domain name requires full ownership details which will be stored to the WHOIS database. Take note that you should use an email not associated with the domain name you are transferring, ie: Gmail, Yahoo and etc.
Disable Domain ID Privacy or Protection
As mentioned above your details from currently registered in the WHOIS database will come along with the transfer. If you have purchased this add on to your current registrar, you need to disable this as your data will not be fetched if Domain Privacy is on.
Turn Off Transfer Lock
As part of security to avoid unauthorized domain transfer, most registrars have a Transfer Lock feature. This feature must be turned off in order to release the domain name.
Get the EPP Code
Lastly, you need to get the Extensible Provisioning Protocol code, also known as EPP, Authorization or Auth Code. It is a unique key code required for any transactions or simply whenever a domain name is registered or renewed, thereby also preventing domain hijacking.
